Item Effectiveness of democratic leadership style and primary school teachers’ work morale in Tanzania(The University of Dodoma, 2015) Akida, Ally AthumaniThe purpose of the study was to investigate effectiveness of democratic leadership style and primary school teachers‘ work morale in Tanzania. The study conducted in Manyara region in Kiteto district. Cross section design with a mixed approach was used. Interviews, questionnaires, focus group discussion and documentary are tools used to gather information. Also simple random sampling and purposive sampling were used. The sample comprised of 70 respondents from five categories. The data was analyzed in frequency and in percentage. The data analyzed according to specific themes from the research questions and research objectives as well as perceptions obtained from the respondents. The findings revealed that, among factors that compel head teachers to use democratic leadership includes to promote peace and harmony in school, would help teachers to cope with environment and challenges, to solve conflict arising at school, to build hope of work to teachers and to create positive community perception about school. Influence of the democratic leadership styles on teachers‘ work morale includes create respect, promote peace and harmony and creates good relationship. Ways that can improve teacher‘s work morale in primary schools include, respecting each other among all stakeholders, involvement of all staffs in setting school goals, the use of rules and regulation, ensure effective supply of school materials, fair delegation of powers and transparency, The study recommended that the government should take in to consideration the issue of school infrastructure, rational distribution of teachers in regions and districts especially in remote areas, delegation of power is the most important in institutions, to build trust between and among the staff members and to encourage the team work.
