dc.description.abstractBack ground: Abortion is a termination of pregnancy at the gestational age of 20 weeks from whatever cause or before the fetus is capable of extrauterine life, it can be spontaneous or induced. Safe or unsafe abortion can lead to serious abortion complications. Individual awareness on abortion complications and the accessibility of comprehensive post abortion care services, are important predictors of the outcome treatment of abortion complications (Geleto & Markos, 2015). Objective: This study has aimed to assess the individual awareness on abortion complications and the accessibility of comprehensive post abortion services, among women seeking abortion care at health facilities in Manyara Region. Method: This was an observation Hospital based Cross-section study with a quantitative approach. Data were collected by using interviewer administered semi structured questionnaire as well as Patient records. Purposive sampling method, was used to select one region due to the high percentage of abortion complications as well as the six health facilities with CPAC services criteria and convenient sampling method, was used to select a study participants due rare cases. Data were analyzed by statistical package services solution (SPSS) version 20 and findings were presented in tables and figures, frequencies, percentages, Odds Ratio (OR), and Adjusted Odds Ratio (AOR). Results: Findings of the current study have revealed a total prevalence of abortion complication was 118(60.2%) and the most complication was severe bleeding 100(51.0%). Formal education were [AOR 0.408; 95% CI 0.186-0.895. P-Value 0.05] in occurrence of abortion complications when compared to nonformula education. Meanwhile the age group of respondents 20-30yrs were [AOR 0507; 95% CI 0.169-1.519, P-Value 0.225, when Compared to age group 30yrs and above [AOR 0.485 95% CI 0.260-0.905, P-Value 0.023. With regards to awareness on abortion complications among women seeking abortion care services in the selected hospitals, Out of 196 participants 50.2% were had good awareness on abortion complications and 177(90.3 %) were heard on abortion complication and few of them16 (8.2%) were not. Moreover most of participant were at age 20-30 yrs. Nerveless, the uptake of Comprehensive Post Abortion Care services, ware relatively high where 174 (88.7%) were counseled of family planning among whom 119 (60.7%) actually, received the contraceptives on discharge day as part of package of comprehensive post abortion care and others were linked to other health facilities. Conclusion. There is a relatively high prevalence of abortion complications among women seeking abortion care services at health facilities and only half of the participants were had good awareness on abortion complications, however, the levels of awareness differ in some components of the package. More efforts should therefore be directed towards increasing individual awareness on abortion complications, and timely provision of a full package of comprehensive post abortion care services.en_US
