dc.description.abstractThis study assessed the influence of development partners on democratization process in Zanzibar, it aimed at finding out in which stage of election the development partners intervene, scrutinizing the influence of development partner‟s intervention to the democratization process in Zanzibar, and proposing the measure that could be taken to improve democracy without the development partners. The study used the case study type of research in order to collect detailed information about the problem undertaken. Data were collected through questionnaires and interview. The study was conducted in Zanzibar at urban district which included the Government Ministry as well as the International Institution and other stake holders who are well conversant with this study. A total of 70 respondents were randomly selected in order to get deeper understanding of the problem. The study concluded that the influence of development partners on democratization process in Zanzibar has many negative effects including: The stakeholders need more adequate knowledge on understanding the intervention of development partner‟s in Zanzibar is inevitable because many of the African countries do not afford to handle their own matters. It is necessary for the government of Zanzibar to explain the inevitability of development partners in democracy due to the extreme efforts the government put to enhance democratization especially during the periods of election. The study findings again concluded that, Due to this circumstance the government through the electoral commission must play important role providing education, and awareness to their citizens on the importance of voting during the election period. This is because the rights of voting is important for every matured citizen in the country.en_US
