dc.description.abstract | This study examined the patterns for coping with decisional conflict in relation to emotional intelligence (EI) of university executives. The study‘s objectives were to determine the coping patterns most preferred by university executives and their levels of emotional intelligence, to find out relationship between the two constructs as well as to work out their differentials. This research used questionnaire survey design. The study used Melbourne Decision Making Questionnaire (MDMQ) and Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS). Purposive sampling was used to select 161 university executives from 16 universities in Dar-es-Salaam, Dodoma and Morogoro regions. The collected data were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 16. The findings showed that majority of university executives possessed high EI levels and preferred vigilance coping pattern over buckpasing, procrastination and hyper vigilance patterns. However, there was negative relationship between vigilance pattern for coping with decisional conflict and high levels of emotional intelligence among the university executives. The study recommends replication studies to affirm theories in the study area. | en_US |
